Bicycle Facts

How Bicycles started

Bicycles were invented in 1817, by Baron Karl Von Drais. His bicycle had a wooden frame with a cushioned seat, and a wooden steering mechanism. The rear wheel was much larger than the front, so that the passenger could push it along with their feet.

Over one Billion Bicycles

There have been well over one billion bicycles sold all over the world, and they are the main form of transportation in many countries.

Bicycles not just for fun

Bicycles are not just used for many types of recreation but are used by police, the military, couriers, and they are also used in physical fitness. Bicycles are judged, or categorized four different ways, by the means of its propulsion, by the number of passengers, by its construction, and by its particular function.

Smart Power

From a mechanical point a person peddling a bicycle without any gears, delivers 99% of their energy from the peddles, is transmitted to the wheels.

Humans and Bicycles

Humans walk at approximately 3 mph, but a bicycle traveling with just the same energy it takes to walk can reach 10 to 15 mph, which is why bicycles have become so popular.

Healthy Fun

Regular bicycling (for exercise or other purposes) carries many health benefits for people of all ages, including: reduced risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, and other chronic diseases; lower health care costs; and improved quality of life.

So it's time to bring that old bike it''s been sitting in your garage and have some fun and get healthy at the same time, If you tend to workout or do cardio on a weekly basis give a bike a chance and you will see that it makes a lot of difference!

Happy Biking!
